There are speculations that Fabian Ihekweme, the arrow head of the “Big Tent”, a platform he used while controversially claiming to be the Coordinator of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council in Imo State, has gone back to the All Progressive Congress APC, which he dumped few months ago.
Ihekweme, who was accused of being used by an incumbent Governor,Senator Hope Uzodinma to destabilize and truncate Peter Obi’s ambition, is said to have concluded plans to rejoin the APC which he, not only dumped but accused of a lot of unprintable atrocities, in his letter of resignation.
A Government House source who spoke to our correspondent said, “we have it on good authority that Ihekweme, a former Commissioner in Uzodinma’s cabinet met with the latter recently. Though, the outcome of the meeting was not made public, it was said to be hinged on the modalities for his return to the APC”.
The source further said, “it has been obvious from the onset that Ihekweme was planted in Labour Party as a mercenary. It should also be recalled that Ihekweme once contested the governorship election in Imo State, alongside Ohakim and others.
When his party’s logo was omitted on the ballot paper and the party insisted on seeking redress in court, Ihekweme, in his usual manner, frustrated the move, only to go behind and reconcile with Ohakim without bringing his party into the picture”.
“That is how he funds his flamboyant life style. How else do you think that a man like that who does not have a visible business in the state can afford to stay in a hotel for several consecutive months”?
“Aside all the permutations, speculations that the former Commissioner may have concluded plans to rejoin the APC was given credence when he was sighted in Uzodinma’s convoy at Iriji Mbaise cultural festival”.
Concerned Imolites who commented on the latest development expressed concern over actions of Ihekweme.
According to them, it is outrageous that Ihekweme, after all he said about Governor Uzodinma and the APC, will still have the face to go back to the party. This tells a lot about his personality and the stuff he is made of”.
