-As Former Governor Steals Show At APC Campaign Flag-off

The purported reconciliation move of Senator Hope Uzodinma and the former Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha may have turned sour following the appearance of the former Governor at the Imo state APC campaign flag-off in Owerri on Wednesday.

Okorocha who was said to have come in company of his age long political friend and the national Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje as well as his former Chief of Staff, Uche Nwosu, was besieged by tumultuous crowd who kept shouting ‘Owelle Ndigbo’, to the chagrin of the governor and numerous APC stakeholders.

Okorocha made his first appearance at the APC rally held at Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri, the Imo state capital, after falling apart with the governor and the APC-led government in Imo state since its inception in 2020.

The two-term former Governor, according to our correspondent tried in vain to ward off the pressure from the tumult who further demanded that he (Okorocha) be given the opportunity to speak at the rally.

A supporter of Senator Hope Uzodinma who was putting on Governor’s branded shirt said, “I am really surprised to see Owelle in Uzodinma’s campaign train. After all Governor Uzodinma did to him. Politicians know themselves. No need to fight over them.”

Another APC supporter who spoke to our reporter said that the former Governor may have attended the flag-off because of his age-long friend who is the national Chairman of the party, not necessarily because of Hope Uzodinma.

He added, “Okorocha’s presence has dwarfed the governor. The euphoria was that no one knew Okorocha was going to attend that flag-off given his rift with the governor. Outside that, I personally like Okorocha he was still the governor.”
