-Says:Governor Also Product Of Supreme court

A group known as Imo Youth For Good Governance, (IYFGG) has taken a swipe at Imo Progressive Movement, IPM and its leadership which it described as a bunch of self serving and undemocratic elements, who, despite their antecedents have the effrontery to tell those who went to court to seek redress after the November, 11, 2023 Imo State governorship election that fell short of all acceptable standards to withdraw their suits.

The group, in a release signed by the President, Comrade Nelson Nwoke described the call for the withdrawal of the petitions filed by aggrieved persons as not only baseless, and unwarranted but also makes mockery of Governor Uzodinma and the Imo State government that should be championing good governance and rule of law in all facets.

The ill-motivated call for the withdrawal of all pending court cases according to them also projects the selfishness of some questionable elements who are desperate to remain relevant despite their obvious short comings.

The youth group noted that the call for the withdrawal of all pending suits against Uzodinma becomes more laughable, considering the fact that the leader of IPM, Engr Eugene Dibiagwu, who has contested election several times in Oguta LGA always went to court to seek redress and pursued all his cases to logical conclusions.

“What is now the offence committed by those who went to court to seek justice. As promoters of justice and good governance, which includes rule of law, we will not fold our hands and watch unprincipled and undemocratic elements to mislead the people or intimidate aggrieved individuals who are seeking justice to be stampeded into abandoning their constitutional right to justice and fair play”.

“It is on record that Senator Hope Uzodinma who is presently presiding over the affairs of the state contested election in 2019 and came a distant fourth. Despite the glaring evidence that he did not win the election, he went to court and from there, to the Appeal Court and then to the Supreme Court where he was eventually declared the Governor of Imo State in very controversial circumstances”.

“To this end we believe that those who are calling on the aggrieved candidates to withdraw the suits they filed in various courts should as well tell them to resort to jungle justice instead of relying on the courts which are said to be the last hope of the common man”.

Recall, that there have been persistent calls and threats by some groups and individuals, including Orlu Political Consultative Assembly OPOCA, that all those who filed suits against Governor Uzodinma, in respect of his victory in the November, 11, 2023 election should withdraw them, in line with the Imo Charter of Equity which has come under severe attack by discerning Imo people.
