–      Says, Death Very Painful

The Labour Party candidate for Orlu State constituency in the March, 18, 2023, election and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, Comrade Precious Nwadike, has expressed grief over the sudden death of the ex-Director of Transport, Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, Comrade Promise Avalon, who died over the weekend.

He described the deceased as a hard working young man who, until his death, was very reliable and passionately committed to the struggle for a better society for all.

Nwadike, in a tribute, captioned, “A Tribute To A Friend And A Political Son On My Birthday which he wrote in honour of the deceased said, “I have been taught so many lessons in life. Some yet to be learnt- one of which is the mystery of life and death.

“The death of Promise Avalon is one that has left me so confused and devastated. Last Friday, he was full of life, I was surprised when I was told of his death on Saturday. What a life!

Avalon, by this time last year you had called to wish me happy birthday and prayed that I won the House of Assembly election, though you had joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) and had your candidate. You had confidence in my ability to deliver on my campaign promises. But today, I struggle to write a tribute in your name on my 42th birthday.

“You were not just an ally but a political son in whom I was well pleased. I met you in the struggle years after my graduation from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). On realizing the potentials in you, I brought you closer. One of such qualities is that you were always ready to learn and showed so much passion and commitment to succeed in life, a virtue that is rare in most of our present Comrades.

“I confided in you on the things I did and we learnt from each other. We shared ideas and hoped that we would succeed in our effort to make the society better.

“As the Senatorial Candidate of the United Progressive Party (UPP) in 2019,you served as my Director of Protocol. Many nights we stayed awake strategizing on how to succeed in the project.

“You were also with me at Orlu Timber Market when one of my opponents engaged and paid SARS (Now Tiger Base Unit) of the Imo State Police Command in Owerri to arrest and possibly kill me while we were campaigning at the Timber Market.

“Life is not fair!

Avalon, I am so pained but I wonder how your Dad would take this.

It is my 42nd birthday. I should have been expecting your call and message today.

Fare thee well, beautiful Soul!

Fare thee well, bright Soul!!

Good night, Avalon!!!”.
