–         Set To Integrate Ex-Gov’s Loyalists Into New Cabinet

A grapevine source has revealed that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has tactfully abandoned all the probe panels inherited by his administration, which he earlier vowed to follow up to a logical conclusion.

Some of the probes which the Governor is said to have abandoned include the one on contracts awarded by the former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, the one on unlawful acquisition of public and individual’s lands and properties among others.

On the issue of contracts that were awarded in questionable circumstances, the one that concerns Zigrate, construction company, in which several billions of naira were awarded on paper without concrete proof or any tangible thing to show for it stand out.

The source who expressed concern about the prevailing situation, said, “ from all indications, all these probe panels seem to have been abandoned because of the reconciliatory move that was initiated by the Vice President of Nigeria Kassim Shettima, ahead of the November, 11, Imo State governorship election which made most of Okorocha ‘s loyalists and foot soldiers to mobilize support for Uzodinma, including Okorocha’s son-in-law and former Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu, who publicly threw his weight before Uzodinma at the peak of preparations for the election”.

“This, it was gathered made the Governor who is said to be at the verge of appointing some of the ex-Governor’s men into his new cabinet to abandon the probe panels and their reports. It would therefore not be surprising if the names of some of Okorocha’s confidants are included in Uzodinma’s new Cabinet”.

Recall, that former Governor Okorocha’s tenure was characterized by sub standard projects, most of which have either collapsed or are completely dilapidated, including the Imo International Convention Center (IICC) the High Court Complex, the police headquarters and the prisons, also located along Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.
