A security expert, Gideon Nwadialu, has expressed reservation about the alarming rate of insecurity around Obinze, Avu and environ, despite the remarkable presence of security operatives in the area.

Nwadialu, who spoke in an exclusive interview with Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, narrated with a heavy heart, how his brother who he advised to acquire a property around Obinze, on the ground that its proximity to the military barracks and the presence of other security agencies will guarantee the security of lives and property, came back in January this year and was kidnapped around the Avu/Obinze axis. “He was also forced to part with a huge sum of money to regain his freedom”.

He called on security agencies in the area, to rise up to the challenge and dispel speculations by villagers that they are working hand in gloves with the criminals with whom they allegedly share their booties, hence the kidnappers and perpetrators of other heinous crimes in the area operate freely without hindrance”.

“The Villagers allege that the security operatives are part of the syndicate. Hence, reports and complaints about the activities of criminals, who are mostly Fulanis, operating within Obinze, Avu, Ihiagawa, Oforola, Okuku and environ are treated with disdain”.

Recall, that in no distant time, decomposing bodies with some missing organs were seen by hunters somewhere around Obinze where some hoodlums suspected to be Fulani herdsmen operate uninhibitedly.
