Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, Member representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency and a prominent chieftain of the Action Peoples Party, has extended warm felicitations to the newly elected Ward, Local Government Area, and State Executive Members following the party’s recently concluded congresses. While commending the transparent and credible electoral process, Ugochinyere charged the new officials to exemplify a new political ethos, urging a decisive departure from the entrenched norms and practices associated with the APC and PDP.

Addressing a press conference at his Akokwa hometown in Ideato North, Imo State, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, the Lawmaker expressed profound satisfaction with the credible and exemplary conduct of the congresses. He explored the newly elected officers to exemplify unity, solidarity, and transparency, fostering the spirit of one indivisible family within the party.

“Our party is renowned for its unity, solidarity, and family-oriented values. All executive members must operate in synergy with no secrecy nor discord. We must carry our support structures along in all undertakings, including the Grassroots Development Forum, the Noble Citizens, and others. Our agenda is victory, not division.”

Ugochinyere further cautioned the new officials against replicating the divisive tendencies associated with the APC and PDP. “Do not import the character and self-serving interests of the PDP and APC. Any attempt to sow division will be met with immediate sanction. We require committed individuals who will advance our collective goal of electoral success. There is no room for strife or acrimony.”

He reiterated an unwavering commitment to the party’s founding ideals, stressing that party funds are strictly for the administration and growth of the party, not for personal business. He charged every officer to discharge their duties, financial or otherwise with diligence, integrity, and without rancor or suspicion. “If you are not wholly committed to this cause, you should honorably step aside,” he declared.

The Legislator charged the officers to be diligent in their duties and demonstrate capacity by immediately strengthening their polling unit structures, commencing robust grassroots mobilization, and working assiduously to secure the party’s victory in the forthcoming elections.

Addressing aspirations for specific party roles ahead of the polls, he underscored the primacy of credibility and competence. “To serve as a polling unit agent, one must be eminently qualified,” he asserted.

Ugochinyere further emphasized that the party neither encourages nor tolerates hidden membership. “If you stand with us, let it be in the open. There shall be no room for secret supporters. Those who wish to align with other political platforms should remain there; we do not condone secret support,” he stated.

According to him, the Action Peoples Party remains the most viable, organized, and forthright political platform in Imo State, fully equipped with the structure and capacity to unseat the ruling party. He noted that the APP stands as the principal opposition party in the state, with two sitting Federal Lawmakers in the National Assembly, a distinction unmatched by other opposition parties, which currently hold no federal elective positions.
