The President-General of Orlu Autonomous Community, Hon. Marcel Okereke, has laid his mother-in-law, Late Cecilia Anna Onumajuru (née Maduike), to rest.
The burial ceremony took place on April 15, 2026, at her late husband’s compound in Duruji, Umuokwara Amucha Ebeise, in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The funeral rites were preceded by a service of songs and wake-keeping held in her honour.
In his tribute, Hon. Okereke described the deceased as a virtuous woman who lived a life of service to others. He noted that she passed on at the age of 88 and was a devout Christian who cared deeply for her family and all who came in contact with her.
He further stated that her legacies of meekness, humility, selflessness, love, godliness, and tolerance would continue to be cherished and upheld by the family.
Hon. Okereke also expressed appreciation to friends, well-wishers, and sympathizers who came to support the family during the period of mourning.
He added that the outing service for the late Cecilia Anna Onumajuru will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at St. Silas Anglican Church, Amucha.
