Contrary to reports in some publications claiming that Senator Patrick Ndubueze had been declared winner of the Okigwe zone senatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) there are reports that Senator Ifeanyi Ararume and Governor Hope Uzodinma have taken the fight that arose from the ill-fated consensus arrangement that purportedly declared Ndubueze winner of the election to Abuja, where the odds are said to favour Senator Ifeanyi Ararume (Agu Isiebu).

An insider source who spoke to Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper said, “while the governor insists that Ndubueze won the election, other APC Stakeholders are mobilizing support for Ararume. According to our source, “the presidency is of the opinion that Ararume who was allegedly denied the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Ltd, by Governor Uzodinma, should be allowed to contest the Okigwe senatorial election.

The presidency also reportedly commended Ararume for standing his ground despite pressure from the corridors of power. More so, when he (Ararume) is not occupying any government position.

Recall that the APC primary elections in the state have elicited a lot of controversy as most of those who sought elective offices on the party’s platform are complaining of alleged foul play, imposition and lack of transparency which they say, can negatively affect unity, cohesion and synergy in the party.
