– As Egbujor Kelechi Emerges Chairman Amid Applause.
Surveyor Egbujor Kelechi Godswill (Mnis) who has been described by many as a thorough bred professional, was on Thursday May 19 2026, inaugurated as the Chairman of Young Surveyors Network Imo State branch. Other members of the Kelechi-led executive are Surv Harrison Ugorji (Mnis), Deputy State Chair, Ezeaka Shedrack, Secretary, Surv Ukwuoma Osinachi (Mnis) financial Secretary, Opara Hope Amarachi Treasurer, Onwuchekwa Stephen, Publicity Secretary.
In his acceptance speech, Surv Egbujor Kelechi, thanked his colleagues for finding him worthy to be their Chairman and promised to leave a legacy for which he and members of his team will be fondly remembered.
Egbujor said, “Today marks not just an inauguration, but the beginning of a renewed journey – a journey of unity, growth, professionalism, and collective progress for Young Surveyors in Imo State. I strongly believe that together, we can build a stronger and more vibrant YSN where every member is empowered, equipped, and inspired to excel.
As your State Chair, my administration will focus on strengthening professional development, mentorship, capacity building, unity among members, and creating opportunities that will advance the interests of Young Surveyors across the state.
We shall work tirelessly to uphold the dignity, ethics, and integrity of our noble profession while promoting excellence in surveying practice. I also wish to assure every member that in the next two years of this administration, I will remain accountable, transparent, and committed to carrying everybody along, ensuring that every voice is heard and every member feels represented in our collective journey toward progress.
“At this juncture, I sincerely commend the immediate past administration for the remarkable efforts and achievements recorded during their tenure. I strongly believe they have done well in moving YSN Imo State forward. My administration will build on the solid foundation already laid, and from that level, we shall strive to do even more as we work to leave our own positive footprint in the growth and development of YSN Imo State. I humbly appeal that the same support, cooperation, and commitment extended to the past administration should equally be given to this new administration to ensure a smooth, successful, and progressive tenure for the benefit of us all.”
I am fully aware that leadership is not about one person; it is about teamwork, sacrifice, listening, and service. Therefore, I call on every member to join hands with this administration. Let us put aside every difference and work collectively for the progress of YSN Imo State.
To my executive team and stakeholders, I seek your support, advice, and cooperation because together we can achieve greater success.
In conclusion, I once again thank everyone who contributed towards making today a reality. Your support, encouragement, and belief in me will never be taken for granted”.
Speaking earlier, the former Chairman of YSN Surv Abara Emmanuel, who handed over to Egbujor Kelechi, rendered account of his stewardship and wished the incoming administration well.
Most of those who spoke to this reporter at the event including Mrs Duru, a staff of the Federal Government Girl’s College Owerri said, “I have Known Kelechi for a very long time. He is like my son. He is a very focused and result oriented person who takes whatever he does very serious. He does not have time for frivolities. I have no doubt that he will excel in this new assignment.”
In the same vein, some Surveyors who spoke to this Reporter on the condition of anonymity expressed delight at Kelechi’s emergence as Chairman. “We are convinced that the new executive under his watch will take YSN to greater heights, Godwilling”.
The leadership seminar with the theme “Leadership beyond titles was very inspiring and elucidative as the resource persons comprising seasoned and knowledgeable professionals who are worth their onion gave good account of themselves. They educated and enlightened the audience who were obviously delighted..
The event was attended by members, present and past leaders of the Young Surveyors Network, the Nigeria Institution of Surveyors, and other distinguished personalities who have made their marks in different spheres of human endeavour, including Rev Fr (Builder) Paschal Onyeneke, Parish Priest of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Okwu Uratta, among others.
The Master of Ceremony Surv Mrs Uzochi Onwukwe’s (Mnis) performance was not only exceptional but also added colour to the event. Same, with the choir that thrilled the audience with scintillating and soul lifting melodious praise and worship songs. Hence, there was no dull moment.
