The dust raised by the recent demolition of shops at the Eke Ukwu Owerri Market by Amanda Integrated Services is yet to settle, as the aggrieved affected traders who claim to have paid not less than fifteen million Naira each for the demolished shops have threatened to embark on mass protest to expose the alleged fraudulent activities of Amanda Integrated Services.
One of the affected traders who introduced himself as Odinaka Iwuchukwu, said, “It is not only annoying but absolutely fraudulent that after paying nothing less that #15 million each for the shops and were issued with necessary documents, the shops that were our means of livelihood were demolished with impunity. Yet , the Amanda Integrated Services that acted as the government’s agent is yet to address us on when and how the huge sums of money we paid to them will be refunded. We have reached out to the Managing Director of Amanda Integrated Services that has been confirmed as the government’s agent, but he has consistently ignored our calls.
Rather, he has reportedly been boasting that victims of the demolition exercise can go to hell because he does not care”.
A source who also commented on the development said, “we have it on good authority that a prominent Commissioner in Governor Uzodinma’s cabinet is part of the deal. We will make his identity public in no distant time”.
It was not possible to call the Managing Director of Amanda Integrated Services for clarification as at the time of filing this report.
However , from the look of things and the temperament of the traders whose shops were demolished, there will be fire on the mountain very soon, if the situation is not properly handled with a view to calming frayed nerves and ensuring that justice prevails.
