Political parties and support groups in Eziachi/Amike Ward of Orlu Local Government Area, Imo State, have reportedly collapsed their political structures in support of Chief Stephen C.Y. Uwaezuoke, the Action Peoples Party (APP) candidate for the Orlu, Orsu and Oru West Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made during a stakeholders’ meeting held at Umuori Hall, Eziachi, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, where political stakeholders, community leaders, elders, youths, women, opinion leaders and supporters from different political parties and interest groups pledged to work together for Uwaezuoke’s electoral bid.
The gathering, which attracted participants from across the political divide, was described by attendees as a demonstration of unity and consensus, with speakers insisting that the constituency needed inclusive leadership capable of delivering effective representation.
In his opening remarks, Prince Kaka Chizoba Ejimkeonye welcomed participants and urged them to set aside political differences in the interest of the development of Eziachi/Amike Ward and the entire federal constituency. He stressed that peace, unity and cooperation among stakeholders remained essential for sustainable development.
Chief Uwaezuoke, who was absent due to engagements outside the area, was represented at the meeting. His representative conveyed the APP candidate’s appreciation to those in attendance for the endorsement and commended the spirit of unity displayed by the stakeholders.
According to the representative, the journey towards quality representation begins with a united grassroots. He urged supporters to remain committed to peaceful political participation, grassroots mobilisation and continuous engagement with the electorate.
He also called on party supporters to intensify voter education ahead of the election, reminding them that candidates’ photographs would not appear on the ballot paper. He urged them to familiarise themselves with the Action Peoples Party’s logo, the Elephant, and educate prospective voters on how to identify the party on election day.
The representative further maintained that Uwaezuoke’s campaign would focus on issue-based politics, responsible leadership and constructive engagement, while urging supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.
Several speakers at the meeting emphasised that the development of the constituency should take precedence over political affiliations.
They argued that despite belonging to different political parties, stakeholders shared a common responsibility to pursue the collective interest of the people.
They also advocated the philosophy of “We Before Me,” urging residents to embrace teamwork, sacrifice and unity as the foundation for lasting political progress and community development.
Participants equally stressed the need to strengthen grassroots structures through effective coordination, communication and sustained stakeholder engagement ahead of the 2027 polls.
A highlight of the meeting was an address by Mr Elvis, who publicly declared his support for Uwaezuoke and described him as a leader whose vision reflects the aspirations of the people.
Mr Elvis called for greater unity within the Isu Clan and pledged to mobilise more supporters for the APP candidate. He also urged eligible voters to participate peacefully in the electoral process and ensure that every lawful vote counts.
Expressing confidence in Uwaezuoke’s leadership qualities, he said the APP candidate possesses the vision, experience and commitment required to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to the Orlu, Orsu and Oru West Federal Constituency.
At the end of the meeting, participants reaffirmed their commitment to working together across party lines, declaring their support for Uwaezuoke’s aspiration and expressing optimism that the growing collaboration among political stakeholders would strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
