2027 Imo North Senatorial Seat: Mike Ejiogu Constitutes Campaign Organization

……Appoints Duru As Director General

The Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Imo North Senatorial District High Chief Mike Duru Ejiogu, has constituted his campaign organization with the acronym (MECO) which means Mike Ejiogu Campaign Organization.

Ejiogu, who formally unveiled the team at a meeting of PDP Stakeholders held at his Anara, Isiala Mbano LGA residence on Sunday August 23 2026, named the former Chairman of IPAC in Imo State Hon Ben Duru as the Director General of his campaign organization, while Dr Emma Chukwu was appointed, Director of Strategic Operations.

According to a release signed by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, who was also named as the MECO’s Director of Media/Publicity, other key appointments in the campaign organization include, “Hon. Emeka Ubenwunne – Chairman, Hon. David Nwosu – Secretary, Lady Clara Ugha – Zonal Women Coordinator, Comr. Ugochukwu Izuchukwu – Zonal Youth Coordinator, Hon. Chima Iwundu – Coordinator, Isiala Mbano LGA, Hon. Offor Raymond – Coordinator, Okigwe LGA, Hon. Anyaeze Godson – Coordinator, Obowo LGA, Hon. Anyanwu Uchenna – Coordinator, Ehime Mbano LGA, Hon. Ajaelu Chinonyerem – Coordinator, Ihitte Uboma LGA, Hon. Jude Obidiaku – Coordinator, Onuimo LGA.

All LGA Party Chairmen – LGA Chairmen of the Campaign Organization.

Announcing the appointments, the Senatorial candidate Chief Mike Ejiogu, said the appointments into the council were the firsts of more to come towards building a formidable front. 

Emphasizing the importance of unity, synergy and strategic collaboration, he said the appointees were chosen on account of their years of proven integrity and capacity to deliver on assigned responsibilities. He urged them to devote their time, intellect, ideas and strength towards helping to secure victory for the party at all levels in Okigwe Zone.

Addressing the stakeholders, the South-East Zonal Secretary of the PDP and one of the reputable leaders of the party in the State, Hon. Mike Ahumibe, admonished the Okigwe leaders on the need for hard work, sacrifice and sincerity as key ingredients for victory.

Expressing confidence in the chances of the PDP in the Senatorial Zone, he said the candidates of the party in the Zone are viable and command tremendous goodwill among the masses. However, he stated firmly that victory is only possible when the gladiators reach out and work for it.

In his remarks, the candidate of the party for Ehime Mbano/Obowo/Ihitte-Uboma Federal Constituency, Barr. Ikenna Emeruem, assured the party leaders of the readiness of the team, urging every stakeholder present to put in their best.

He said the party would deploy every available arsenal to secure victory in Okigwe Zone at the general elections and would reach all nooks and crannies of the zone with the message of transformation and development.

In his acceptance speech, delivered on behalf of himself and the Campaign Organization, Hon. Ben Duru who was once Special Advisor to the Governor on Inter-Party Affairs thanked the leaders of the party in the Zone, especially Chief Mike Ejiogu and Barr. Ikenna Emeruem, for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the team.

The former Deputy Director-general of Divine Mandate Movement (DMM) assured them that no stone would be left unturned in delivering the Zone to the PDP in the 2027 polls.

The meeting, which was well attended by key stakeholders of the PDP in the Zone, including the House of Reps and State Assembly Candidates, is widely viewed as a significant step towards strengthening the party’s preparations ahead of the general elections.
