-APC Members In Orlu Zone Confused Over Conflicting INEC Reports
Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has denied reports of his arrest, insisting that the court order allegedly used to justify the action had been vacated before October 2026.
Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, made the clarification in a press release dated October 12, 2026, in which he accused the Imo State Government of misleading the public over the alleged arrest warrant.
Onwuemeodo was reacting to a statement issued by the state government through the Commissioner for Information, Mbadiwe Emelumba, titled “Bench Warrant: Okorocha’s Lies.”
According to him, the government released a copy of the court order dated September 9, 2026, following an earlier challenge by Okorocha’s camp demanding that the document be made public.
He, however, argued that the order had been vacated by the same court on September 14, 2026, questioning how it could still be relied upon in October.
“The same court order was vacated by the same court on September 14, 2026. Could a court order issued on September 9 and vacated on September 14 still be alive in October 2026? The answer is expectedly no,” Onwuemeodo stated.
He maintained that there was no subsisting court order for Okorocha’s arrest and called on the Imo State Government to apologise for what he described as misleading information circulated to Nigerians and the international community.
The former governor’s aide also disputed a subsequent report that Okorocha had been arrested, insisting that the claim was untrue.
He challenged the state government to contradict his position, expressing confidence that the former governor’s camp was presenting the facts of the matter.
Onwuemeodo further referred to Emelumba’s latest statement, which, according to him, indicated that the September 9 court order had no connection with petitions reportedly written by the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, on October 8, 2026.
He said the clarification was significant, adding that the former governor’s camp would continue to insist on what it considers the truth of the matter.
The dispute has heightened the public exchange between Okorocha’s camp and the Imo State Government over the status of the alleged arrest warrant and reports surrounding the former governor.
Meanwhile, APC members in Orlu zone are said to be confused over the conflicting INEC reports.
Many of those who spoke to this reporter averred that the development has made it even difficult for the party members to campaign as they do not know who to campaign for.
