The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu, recently held a strategic meeting with the leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress APC in Nwangele Local Government Area with a view to ensuring internal cohesion and charting a way forward ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The meeting which was said to be the first major gathering of members shortly after the primaries, was reportedly convened at the instance of the Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu to address critical issues affecting the party, including dissenting opinions over the just concluded party primaries.
The LGA Chairman Paschal Iwuala, commended the attendees for honoring his invitation and ensuring decorum during the recently concluded party primaries. He commended the stakeholders and party executives for their dedication and commitment to the democratic process. He stressed the need to foster unity and allow the will of the party to take precedence over personal ambitions.
In his address, Hon. Iwuala emphasized that the completion of the primaries necessitated a renewed commitment to party unity and cohesion to prevent divisive tendencies. He stressed the critical need for reconciliation among aggrieved members and called for an end to parallel party structures that could undermine collective efforts while setting up a reconciliation and disciplinary committee to that effect. The chairman urged all stakeholders to redirect their energies toward ensuring victory for APC candidates in all elective positions in the state.
The Executive Chairman of Nwangele LGA, Hon Paul Chijioke Duru, emphasized the need to see both new and old members of the party as equals without discrimination. He urged those yet to register and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to do so in order to assure the victory of APC in Nwangele and beyond.
The Deputy Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu, who is also the APC candidate for Nwangele state constituency, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to members for their overwhelming support during the primaries. In a show of commitment to strengthening the party and enhancing grassroots mobilization, he donated ten million Naira (₦10,000,000) to support the party’s organizational activities and electoral campaigns across Nwangele LGA. He called for unity and synergy within the LGA to guarantee victory for APC in the 2027 general elections. He also urged them to support Governor Hope Uzodimma and his Senatorial ambition, adding that such support would further enhance the frontiers of development in the zone and LGA.
Other stakeholders and party executives who spoke reinforced the need for stronger unity and grievance resolution mechanism.
