The remains of late Mrs Justina Elegamonye Akalonu, the mother-in-law of Elder Emma Ejiogu, popularly called EMULATE, of Umuohoukwu Umueze, Orogwe in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State will be laid to rest at her residence, Umuakali Naze, in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State.
A burial arrangement signed by Chukwudi Chukwu, on behalf of the family indicates that the body of the deceased will leave Ascension Mortuary Agbala, also in Owerri North Local Government Area to her residence for lying in state on Friday October 16 2026, while there will be a funeral mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish Umuakali Naze, by 11 am same day.
Thereafter, interment and condolence visits will follow at her aforementioned residence immediately after the funeral mass.
Commenting on the development, Emulate, a respected community leader and retired banker who is married to the deceased’s first daughter Mrs Ngozi Ejiogu, described his late mother-in-law as a devout Christian, disciplined, loving and compassionate mother who placed much premium on peace, justice, equity, fairness and mutual co-existence.
He said, “my late mother in-law was a devout Christian and respected community leader who impacted positively on all who made contact with her during her eventful earthly sojourn. Though we will miss her so much, we are consoled by the legacy and fond memories she left behind. We pray that the Almighty God grants her soul peaceful repose”
Also speaking, Elder Emma Ejiogu’s wife, Mrs Ngozi Ejiogu, who is the deceased’s first daughter described her late mother as an epitome of ideal womanhood who inculcated in her children the virtues of hard work, discipline, and the right sense of judgement.
