Chief Benneth C. Obi, popularly known as Enyikwonwa, has denied allegations of land grabbing and alleged involvement in criminal activities published in some Imo based Newspapers, threatening to take legal action over the report.

The denial followed a publication by the newspapers on October 8, 2026, with the headline: “Imo Group Raises Alarm Over Alleged Land Grabbing, Accuses Enyi of Alleged Involvement; Says Suspect Is Allegedly on the Run, Urges Public to Report to Security Agencies.”

In a letter dated October 9, 2026, and signed by his counsel, Prince B. O. Amukamara, Esq., of Egbudor Royal Chambers, Solicitors and Advocates, Obi demanded the withdrawal of the publication and a public apology from the newspaper.

The letter, addressed to the media houses, described the publication as containing statements allegedly damaging to his client’s reputation and public image.

The legal representative consequently demanded the immediate removal of the report from all platforms on which it had been circulated.

He also requested that the newspapers publish a formal and unreserved public apology to Obi, giving it the same prominence as the original publication.

According to the letter, the newspaper was expected to comply with the demands within seven days of receiving it.

The lawyer further urged the newspaper to take prompt and appropriate steps to address the matter and prevent what he described as further damage to his client’s reputation.

Although the letter sets out the demands, it does not establish whether the newspapers have responded or complied with them.

The development raises the prospect of a legal dispute over the publication, with Obi’s counsel indicating that the matter would be pursued through appropriate legal channels if necessary.
