…Accuse Chinasa Nwaneri, Other Of Invading Ancestral Home With Thugs

… Residents Scamper For Safety Over Sporadic Gun Shots

.Residents of an ancestral home located at No 1 Bus Stop, Nekede Old Road, Owerri West Local Government Area, Imo State, have been crying bitterly over their land and property that are being allegedly grabbed by Chinasa Nwaneri and his alleged thugs.

They lamented that Chinasa Nwaneri, who is incidentally the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, commanded some group of boys, identified as thugs, to invade and destroy houses and other properties in the said ancestral land which they said originally belong to them.

The family who spoke to journalists through Amb. Felix Uchenna Ihemeze Nkwazema, said that they were surprised of how Chinasa Nwaneri and his thugs allegedly invaded the said land, destroyed properties and started fencing it.

The Nkwazema family hinted that Chinasa Nwaneri had mapped the graves of their parents out and started fencing the land which they said are over Ten Plots with many houses.

He noted that no government official or Chinasa Nwaneri had approached the family about taking their land nor any kind of Monetary Compensation paid to the family, saying the said land does not belong to government even though they share boundary with ADC.

Nkwazema said that the Owerri City Survey/Plan Documents of the land are intact, stating that the family had possessed and lived on the land sice 1943, wondering why a sane government could wake up and decided to displace citizens and grab an ancestral home whose occupants are still alive.

Nkwazema said their rights should be fully respected by government, regretting the sporadic shooting that happened in the evening hours of Thursday by the alleged thugs that left residents scampering for safety, asking why his younger brother, Ifeanyi Ihemeze Nkwazema, could be legally arrested by the Tiger Base Unit.

The family called on the Governor of Imo State, Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police and other relevant bodies to rise against injustice and compel Chinasa Nwaneri to leave their ancestral land alone.

“Our ancestral land has never been in dispute. We were never approached nor notified that the Imo State Government wants to take our land. We were not  compensated and we are now street urchins as Nwaneri and his thugs had rendered us homeless and restless”, Nkwazema appealed.
