The information reaching our newsmen has it that the Imo State Legal adviser for All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) Barr. Ikechukwu Ikeji is dead.
A source at the state secretariat of the party said, he died after a brief illness in Lagos where he practiced as a human right lawyer and a trustee of the Igbo intelligentsia.

According to one of the state Executive Committee members of APGA who spoke to our reporter, on condition of anonymity, Barr. Ikeji participated actively during the last rally organized by Imo State APGA chapter where they received some PDP and APC decampees. He described late Ikeji as an active member of the party who will be missed by all his friends in the party for what he represents “we have lost a rare gem. So sad it is coming at a time when the party is committed to salvaging Imo State from the strangle hold of an APC governor who has made life unbearable for the people. Barr Ikeji’s input would have been very necessary, in this direction, he lamented.

On his own, Chief Joseph Chukwuma Ikenna, a former House of Representatives APGA candidate for Oguta, Oru-West and Ohaji/Egbema Federal Constituency, described Barr. Ikeji as a good friend, a fine man, a human rights activist and a fighter of Igbo cause.

His death spells a great loss to Igbo land and to Nigeria. He will be terribly missed by us all in a lot of ways. He further expressed, “how shocked we have been since we heard of the news and prayed God to give his soul a peaceful rest and to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss”.
The family is yet to make any pronouncement on the demise of Barr. Ikeji as to ascertain the burial arrangements.
