The former national chairman of Orlu Elders Council and minister of education (State) Professor, Anthony Anwuka is reported to have parted ways with the council, an apex elite socio cultural/political advisory council, of indigenes of the twelve council areas that makeup Orlu senatorial zone.

Professor Anwuka, one time Vice-Chancellor of Imo State University and close confidant of the Imo State governor is alleged to have expressed

disappointment over recent attitude meted out to him by members of the council and opted to severe relations with his allies and kinsmen who had provided a platform to rise to his present height.

Sources close to the Elders council disclosed that Professor Anwuka refused to relinquish office or hand over to another person when he became Secretary to the Government of Imo State (SGI) in the Okorocha government neither did he convene a meeting or reference to the organization all through his tenure as SGI, thus holding the people to ransom.

Perturbed by the stalemate, the Orlu youths recently led a delegation to another erudite scholar and son of Orlu, Professor Nathan Uzoma urging him to reach out to other elders to re-organize the council and conduct election to select a new executive to pilot the affairs of the elite outfit, an assignment the young university don was reported to have carried out meticulously. When he got wind of the new development, Professor Anwuka was alleged to have done all he could to frustrate the election but could not, as all the elders recently came out enmasse to elect new executives.

During the election Professor Francis C. Dike (SAN), former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice emerged as Chairman, while the young University Don and popular newspaper columnist, Professor Protus Uzoma emerged as secretary.
