-Says governor can’t be trusted

Distinguished Senator Ben Uwajimogu representing Okigwe senatorial zone, of Imo State has revealed how the Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, almost ruined his political career and also tried to lure him into selling off all he had, even before becoming a state legislator. He also credited his victory in the senatorial re-run election to Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, and few others who encouraged and stood by him. Continuing, he said, Okorocha was aloof and contributed nothing.

“He was busy strategizing on how to impoverish and make me politically irrelevant. For instance, the first day, we went to court, he said we should come with our lawyers, and write out what the case was all about. He promised to take care of the matter. We did not however know he was up to something sinister. When the matter was about to end, I approached him for financial assistance. He told me bluntly that he had no money and suggested that I should sell my house. That I have a hotel somewhere, that should also be sold to a willing buyer at the cost of N40 million. Then, I knew he wanted to buy the hotel. He also suggested that I sell my quarry, and this was two days before judgment in the senatorial election matter. At this point, we negotiated and I sold my quarry to him at N35m, out of which he paid thirty million and is still owing me N5m till date”.

The senator, who as speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, contributed immensely in stabilizing governor Okorocha’s government in the first tenure made this revelation while speaking at the lavish end of year party, organized by Senator Ararume for APC state, LGA and ward excos, last Sunday. He regretted that, Okorocha, has inspite of all he did for him, to remain afloat as governor, rewarded him evil for good. However, all is now history.

He described Okorocha “as an unreliable fellow that should not be taken seriously. Those still hanging around him have not known his character. If they get to known him, they will all avoid and run away from him.

He averred that the worst that can happen to Imo State is to allow Rochas to produce a successor, and if that happens, it means there is nobody in the state.  “He is presently, sitting on a keg of gun powder, because there is more to be exposed about his self acclaimed rescue mission government, as regards the monumental fraud going on in the state.

He also disclosed that when he and other well meaning people got wind of the government’s intention to demolish markets and other structures in the state, they went and scheduled an appointment, to discuss and possibly dissuade him from doing that, the governor, tactfully pre empted the discussion, by refusing to give then audience, not minding that they came all the way from Abuja.
