Ahead of the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state, Barr. Success Obioma Akagburuonye has joined the race to govern the state on the platform of National Unity Party (NUP). The aspirant who is an illustrious son of Ogbor Nguru Mbaise in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State has been a philanthropist to the core and a promoter of human capital development whose impact has been felt by many in one way or the other.
The frontline governorship aspirant noted with dismay that Imolites have been subjected to poverty, hardship and lack by the past and present governments in the state stating that he will uphold good governance and make Imo economy viable with the sound economic policies he will introduce if he becomes governor.
He stated that the key sectors such as education, industrialization, workers welfare, agriculture, quality health care and many others will be given the required attention in order to improve the living standard of Imolites, come 2019.
The aspirant is said to have remained a courageous and result oriented fellow of exceptional calling who has the interest of the people at heart. His achievements and accomplishments are laudable inspite of the fact that he has not held any political appointment or been in government.
Furthermore, Barr. Obioma in pursuit of his vision to govern Imo State come 2019 held a stakeholders meeting with the leadership and members of Imozurukwuo, an umbrella body that brings Imo sons and daughters together to pursue a common goal.
Imozurukwuo is also a socio-cultural and non political pressure group which has been at the fore front in the crusade to ensure equity, fairness, justice and good governance in the state.
Barr. Obioma also used the opportunity to present his personal profile and achievements to the leadership of Imozurukwuo in the residence of the President General, High Chief Uche Njoku. While receiving the profile of Barr. Obioma Akagburuonye, High Chief Uche Njoku (Ugwumba Owerri) who is also the current chairman of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Imo State chapter lauded him for the giant step he took by presenting himself to the body and assured him of their unbiased support.
In his response, the governing council chairman of Imozurukwuo Dr. Darlington Akukwu thanked Barr. Success for coming to consult them as regards his governorship bid.
Adding his voice, the Imo State Chairman of National Unity Party (NUP) Hon. Chief (Pharm.) Bright Olaokpu stated that the party is poised to improve the living standard of Imolites if given the mandate. He therefore urged all members of Imozurukwuo to support the party come 2019 general election.
