Information reaching our news desk alleges that the state Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barr Peter Ezeobi is working hand in gloves with his former client to ensure that APGA presents a weak and unpopular candidate that will be a walkover for his party in the 2019 governorship election and Clement Owunna, who contested the primary election for Okigwe senate seat with Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu and withdrew at the last minute, after he was allegedly settled has been pencilled as running mate to the prospective stooge.

It was gathered, that to achieve this objective, out of the array of governorship aspirants in APGA, Ezeobi is rooting for one of the aspirants from Mbaise nation, who is said to have doled out an undisclosed huge sum of money to him.

To give credence to his allegation, a local government area Chairman of the party, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that the state Chairman directed them to work for a former Senator who is also in the race at the last delegate election, and to achieve that, “I cunningly told members of the party to wait in vain at a place for the delegate election, while the election was clandestinely conducted elsewhere”.

Most people who commented on the ugly development, said they are not surprised by Ezeobi’s shenanigms because, “he has been a lawyer and a benefactor of the said client for a very long time and his appointment as a Niger Delta Development Commissioner was allegedly influenced by the “client” whom he has vowed to remain eternally grateful to”.

The National leadership of the party has expressed concern over Ezeobi’s alleged antics and are poised to forestall it, because “they are determined to win Imo state in 2019”.

Cross section of Imolites who spoke to this reporter are worried that APGA, a party they have confidence in is beginning to lose grip.

They also expressed disappointment and loss of confidence in Barr Peter Ezeobi’s ability to lead APGA to victory in 2019, because “it is obvious that he has compromised”, they concluded.

Effort to reach Barr Ezeobi for his reaction was unsuccessful as his phone line did not go through.
