The Imo Professional group, made up of lawyers, bankers, medical practitioners and retirees from various fields of life, at home and in the diaspora, on Sunday January 20th, 2019, met in Owerri and resolved to endorse Senator Hope Uzodinma, of Imo APC, as sole candidate for the 2019 governorship election.
Addressing the press shortly after their deliberations, which lasted for about five hours, Dr Enyinnaya Emmanuel Emeka, who doubles as the Chairman of the group, as well as Regional Director, West Africa, DEA Consulting Group, South Africa, stated that, they were officially invited to appraise Senator Uzodinma’s manifesto and criticize it. This assignment, he added was accomplished through a sub-committee they set up to take a cursory look at the document, and come up with recommendations.
At the end of the extensive deliberations, Senator Uzodinma was adjudged to have a clear cut manifesto with which to reposition Imo state. Accordint to Enyinnaya, they also took time to pensively look at other candidates’ manifestoes, antecedents and sincerity of purpose and eventually resolved that, Hope Uzodinma’s campaign promises and his antecedents speak volume of what is expected at a time like this, when the state has been plunged into economic crisis of the worst order.

The UNN, UNI Jos and OAU, trained financial expert and economist, explained that, his professional group had at the meeting, resolved to make extract of some of the promises made by Senator Hope Uzodinma, with the view of informing the electorate, on why Uzodinma remains the best governorship candidate for Imo people. “It will also serve as a reference point to what other candidates have in stock, for Imo people, ahead and after the general elections”.
Dr Enyinnaya added that, the endorsement of Senator Hope Uzodinma was sequel to the outcome of several meetings held at the different chapters of the group, including the diaspora chapter, after which the group resolved to throw their financial muscles and any other means, to ensure Imo people are the greatest beneficiaries.
Continuing, Enyinnaya observed that the group is proud of Senator Hope Uzodinma for being able to wrestle the APC governorship ticket from Rochas Okorocha, who had almost pocketed or appropriated the ticket for his son-inlaw,Uche Nwosu. “Uzodinma deserves commendation from Imo electorate for such level of gallantry as exhibited by him, in collecting the cup from the lions mouth after serving it water to drink”, he stated.
Enyinnaya then advised the electorate to ensure prompt collection of their PVCs essentially required for the elections of 2019.
Speaking exclusively to Community Watchdog Newspaper correspondent, Dr Enyinnaya, who bagged PhD in Business Administration, and was a recipient of Federal Government Universities National merit award, between 1978-1980, enjoined Imolites to cast their lots with Hope Uzodinma, so as to reap bountiful dividends of democracy.
