The 2019 Governorship inauguration and handover committees set up by the Governor-elect, headed by one time Secretary to the Imo State Government, Barrister Chris Okewulonu, has released a four day programme of events leading to the ceremony proper, which takes place on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at the popular Dan Anyiam Stadium, starting at 9am prompt.
In a release issued from the office of the Chairman of the 52 man Joint Committee, the programme will kick start on Sunday, May 26, 2019, with an inter-denominational church service at the Grasshopper International Handball Stadium at noon followed by a Novelty football match at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, same day.
On the second day May 27, being “Nigerian Childrens’ Day”, there will be an Arts exhibition by 11am at the Ahiajioku Convention Centre followed by another Novelty football by 4pm, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium.
Then on Tuesday, May 28, the Committee plans to conduct an inaugural lecture by 10am, at the Ahiajioku Convention Centre, Owerri and by 12 noon of the same day, there will be a mega youth event at the Grasshopper International handball Stadium.
The actual swearing-in and handover has been slated to begin with the swearing-in of the Governor and the Deputy Governor-elect at Dan Anyiam Stadium by 9am. Thereafter, there shall be a state banquet at the Ahiajioku Convention Centre, where top government officials, political part leaders, captains of industries, civil society organizations including the NBA, NMA, NUJ, NLC, NUC, Town Union President Generals, Ndi Eze and other distinguished and illustrious sons and daughters of Imo state will be in attendance.
