Imo State Governor, Rt. Hon.Emeka Ihedioha, CON, has called on the youths of the state to become strategic partners in the task of rebuilding the State.
In his message to Imo Youths to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day with the theme ” *Transforming Education*, the Governor said his government is committed to Resolution 54/120 of the United National General Assembly which endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers which declared 12th of August every year as International Youth Day.
Governor Ihedioha also stated his administration’s resolve to move beyond mere observance of the Youth Day as proactive measures have been taken to ensure that the youths become key strategic partners in realizing the Rebuild Imo Agenda.
He also reiterated his administration’s support to Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, which seeks to ensure inclusive, qualitative education and promote learning opportunities for all especially the youths.
The governor maintained that in line with the theme of this year’s celebration – Transformating Education – which examines how governments, youth-led and focused organizations are transforming education, his administration is determined to improve education in the State to serve as a tool to encourage and empower Imo youths.
While encouraging them not to despair, but to brace up to the challenges ahead, the Governor urged them to shun cultism and other vices which will undermine their growth and development.
He assured that his administration shall continue to revive the education system in the State which was inherited in a collapsed condition as well as rebuild the entire infrastructure in the State in order to create the right environment for learning and transformation of the youths.
Governor Ihedioha stated that the state Government through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development shall collaborate with other relevant agencies and bodies to empower Imo youths through the establishment of learning centers, skill acquisition programmes, business, and entrepreneurship training in various fields.
