The Independent National Electoral Commssion yesterday cut short the expectations of the Dan Nwafor led APC said to be loyal to Rochas Okorocha and Uche Nwosu while recognising Chief Marcel Nlemigbo as the Chairman of Imo APC.Nlemigbo has the total support of the governor, senator Hope Uzodinma.

The letter dated September 1,2020 signed by Rose Oriaran Anthony as Commission’s Secretary, addressed to the Imo State resident Electoral Commissioner and made available to us through our source stated that INEC is in receipt of the judgement and Stay of execution order secured by both parties, respectively.

The letter made reference to a judgement secured by the Dan Nwafor led faction of APC with suite number FCT/HC/BW/CY/103/2019 which was between Evan Enwerem Vs All Progressive Congress while stating that the judgement has been over taken by event in view of the Stay of execution order also secured by Nlemigbo led faction of APC.

It further stated that in view of the Stay of execution Order and the pending case in appeal court, INEC is barred from recognizing Nwafor led Executive. It stated that as long as the case is in court, INEC as a law abiding establishment is bound to obey the latest order secured by Nlemigbo led faction which has been served on them.

With this development, it is obvious that Nwafor’s led executive even though may insist on fielding in candidate for Okigwe Senate, will not be recognized by the party and INEC except court says otherwise.

It was gathered that Nlemigbo had appealed the judgement earlier secured by Nwafor led executive in 2018.
