Traditional rulers, of Orlu Local Government extraction, where the Chairman, Imo Traditional Institution and Community Policing, HRM Eze EC Okeke hails from have lamented over the calculated plan by some politicians in the area to hijack the constitution and supervision of the security outfit recently established by the governor to replace other local vigilante outfits in the state.

It was also gathered that the Monarchs who met yesterday in Orlu resolved to petition the governor on the activities of most of the politicians in the area.

Some of them who spoke to our reporter on condition of anonymity accused the Interim Management Committee Chairman, Lady Ifeoma Ndukwu of fueling the crisis and taking over the role of appointing members of  Community Policing.

The traditional rulers who expressed disappointment at the unpatriotic attitude of politicians revealed that politicians are recruiting thugs and personal aides who worked for them during the 2019 election thereby exposing the greater number of the electorate to danger.

A source said,”the more worrisome aspect is that even the Councilors constituted themselves into members of the community policing with the belief that they won’t go for training, not knowing that the security training is on now and they can’t go.Today, all those communities where the greedy Councillors made the list are now without personnel to be trained. Some even added names of their brothers and village chiefs”.

When contacted, the Orlu Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) confirmed that lists were sent to him which  he submitted to appropriate quarters but what he doesn’t know is what happened to the lists.

When also contacted, the Traditional ruler of Amaifike and Chairman, Imo State Traditional Institution and Community Policing, HRM (Dr) Eze Emmanuel Okeke declined comment, saying that he has noted the complaints of the traditional rulers and is reaching out to those concerned to address the issue in order not to derail the well-thought out program of governor Hope Uzodinma.

Similarly, the Interim Management Committee Chairman, Mrs Ifeoma Ndukwu who is at the center of the crisis was not disposed to speaking with our reporter. Her aide who picked the call claimed that she was in a crucial meeting and will get back to our reporter but didn’t uptil the time of going to press.
