Hon Collins Ugorji,erstwhile Chairman of Mbaitoli local government area of Imo State has been honoured as an Eminent Peace Ambassador by the International Association of World Peace Advocates (Unite Nations Peace Volunteers) in recognition of his exemplary attributes which have fostered peace and affected lives positively.

The award was presented to Hon Collins Ugorji  by a delegation of the leaders and Advocates for Peace who presented the certificate and award when they visited the former in his office on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

The award ceremony was part of activities conducted by the association to mark United Nations International day for education.

Speaking on behalf of the Ambassadors for Peace, Amb Engr Vitus Echemba (West African Field Director) who presented the Eminent Peace Award certificate and award to the former T.C. Chairman, alongside Amb Pharm Onyebuchi Kalu, Amb Barr Ijele Oluchukwu, and Pastor Osita Johnson commended Hon Ugorji for meeting the requirements for the award and urged him to function as “a peace maker in any part of the world with regards to the declaration on the right of people to peace (1984) of the United Nations Resolution but with special bias to education.” 

Responding to the award, Ugorji expressed joy over the honour done to him and assured that he will continue to advocate peace everywhere he finds himself, adding that there is no substitute for peace.

He averred  that the award given to him will spur him to do more, to the glory of God and advancement of the society at large.

It would be recalled that the Mbaitoli born new Ambassador for peace had during his tenure as Council Chairman visited all the schools in the Mbaitoli Local Government area  of Imo in a bid to ensure conducive environment for students which is a clear, pointer to his love for education.
