Death has been announced of “Model Mother” Mary Kanu mother of Chief Sir EP Kanu of Eziala Amumara Ezinihitte and mother –in-law of a veteran journalist and former Chairman of Imo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Comrade Ben Osuagwu. She died at the ripe age of 95, years.
A family source from her marital home in Amumara Ezinihitte Mbaise indicates that the remains of the model mother who was a role model for all christian women who made contact with her will be laid to rest at Sir E.I.P’s com pound at Eziala Ubahi Amumara Mbaise after a pontifical requiem mass for the repose of her soul at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Ubahi, Amumara by 11am on Friday February 11.
The release show sthat model mother Mary Kanu while alive was a strong member of the Catholic Women Organization of Our Lady of Victory Parish, Amumara and instrumental for the sitting and building of the Sacred Heart Church at Ubahi, Amumara.
She was also a very strong member of so many societies in the Catholic Church. Her contributions and devotion in the church earned her some Diocesean and Parish Awards.
Model Mother Mary Kanu was the mother of Eziada Lady Ugochi Ben Osuagwu wife of Chief Ben Osuagwu – Secretary General of Owerri Peoples Assembly and former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Imo State Council. She is survived by eight children including Noble Chief Sir E I P Kanu – KSJI, – Akanaemehe Obodo I of Amumara, Isaac Kanu, Boniface Kanu, Eziada Lady Ugochi Ben Osuagwu, Pst Dr Mrs Merit Nwachukwu, Dr Mrs Rita Ohanele, Lady Rosanna Amalaha and Charles Kanu.
Family members, friends, colleagues and associates in the inky profession, Knights of the church and all sympathizers are cordially invited to join the family in giving this model mother a befitting final farewell.
