As the 2nd phase of the ongoing voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) draws to an end ahead of the 2023 general election, a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and a frontline aspirant for Ahiazu Mbaise State Constituency, Hon. Chinecheta Anslem Obasi has beckoned on the people of Ahiazu Mbaise who are yet to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to urgently do so before the closing date on March 18th 2022. 


Speaking to our correspondent on the importance of every electorate in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA to have his or her PVC’s in a phone conversation, the Ihitte Akpim born humanitarian and seasoned administrator disclosed that voters card remains the major power of every electorate to choose who will represent him or her  in every political position during the forthcoming general election.


According to him, “Your voters card is your power to usher in good governance at all levels of governance, no body should deceive you  that your votes does not count. With the ongoing electoral reforms and electoral Act been signed into law, Nigerians should not loose hope in our electoral system “he stated.


“Don’t feel less concerned about this ongoing voters registration in the country, be part of every political process to bring on board the change we desire in our political system for a better tomorrow”.


Hon. Obasi therefore urged all eligible voters in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA who are yet to  register to do so without further delay, he also called on those who may have lost theirs or relocated from where they were  initially captured to visit INEC office in the local government to get themselves registered.


The Imo House of Assembly hopeful expressed optimism that if every Ahiazu Mbaise son or daughter gets his or her voters card, it will go a long way in enthroning good leadership in all levels of governance in the area and in the state at large.


He called on Ahiazu Mbaise people not to wait till the last minute before they join others in getting their PVC’s to enable them vote out  bad government spearheaded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and in turn choose the right person to deliver dividends of democracy to them. 

Speaking further, Hon.  Obasi also used the opportunity to call on the electoral umpire to leave up to the expectation of every Nigerian by improving on its electoral processes especially as the new electoral law is now operational in the country.


He also appealed to INEC to do its best in fixing lapses witnessed in past elections within the country to ensure a hitch free electoral process come 2023 where every electorate will be satisfied that his or her vote counted.
