A frontline aspirant for Imo East Senatorial District and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party,  Sir  Basil Maduka, has decried the high rate of unemployment in Imo State especially in Owerri zone which accommodates other LGA’s and zones in the state as the state capital.

The Owerri Zone Senatorial hopeful, a renowned technocrat regretted there are no functional industries or companies where the teeming unemployed youths in Owerri zone and in the state at large would be gainfully employed to earn a living.

Sir Maduka who hails from Akpodim in Ezinihiite Mbaise local government area of Imo State disclosed this while interacting  newsmen in Owerri over the weekend.  He maintained that being in leadership position should not end in tarring roads with public funds but to provide enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state.

Speaking further, the PDP stalwart stated that the economy of the South East especially,  Imo State is going down on daily basis as a result of agitations and hunger in the land.

According to him, “we need to change the narrative in Owerri zone and as well find means to keep the teeming unemployed youths who are our brothers and sisters busy with meaningful job opportunities to pave way for lasting peace and development”

On his Senatorial ambition, Sir Maduka pointed out that he needs a platform where some of the challenges facing the people would be met by using his wide contacts and reach to make  difference in the life of Ndi-Owerri zone.

The Mbaise born technocrat and business mogul opined that going to the Red Chambers to represent Owerri zone  is not all about going there to fight or make noise but to use the position to attract more dividends of democracy to Owerri zone and to the state at large.

Sir Basil Maduka, a renowned humanitarian and philanthropist who has touched so many lives through his benevolence and kind gesture appealed to PDP delegates, leaders and stakeholders to make their choice according to their conscience which should be centered on competence as regards  who will fly the party’s flag at the forthcoming general election.

He assured the people of Owerri Zone that he will to disappoint them if given the opportunity to serve them in the Senate come 2023.
