A group known as Our Orlu Project has expressed gratitude to leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo state for resolving that the age-long arrangement of rotating the positions of state lawmaker and that of the Executive Chairman of the local government council between the Isu and Orsu clans as agreed in a documented agreement signed by the leaders of the area in 1999 should be sustained.

The group, in a letter signed by Nnamdi Achi and Christian A.C as Chairman and Secretary respectively dated April 11,2022 with the caption “Appreciation to Orlu PDP Stakeholders” addressed to Orlu PDP stakeholders through Dr Vin Udokwu expressed gratitude that the arrangement which stipulates that, “if the member for Orlu state constituency in the house of assembly comes from Isu Clan, the Executive Chairman of Orlu L.G.A will come from Orsu Clan and Vice versa, has since then promoted peace, unity and mutual co-existence among the people.

They commended the decision of Orlu stakeholders to ensure that the agreement is strictly adhered to by political parties, especially the PDP in choosing who will be the candidate for Imo assembly seat for Orlu L.G.A.

“This decision is highly commendable in the interest of justice, equity and fairness, and for the maintenance of peace and unity which Orlu is known for. The rotary system has immensely helped our people to avoid sit tight syndrome and also given more people the opportunity to exhibit their leadership potentials.

“We immensely appreciate the fact that the truth is being upheld by key Stakeholders in the area. This is a call for every Orlu indigene to accept this fact for the achievement of quality leadership and effective representation.”
