·     As Okemili, others show solidarity  

Chief Aloy Igwe who is said to have won the Peoples Democratic Party PDP ticket for Orlu, Orsu, Oru East federal constituency seat at the free, fair and credible primary election conducted by the party which was later cancelled In  questionable circumstances and given to Chief Kingsley Onyegbule, over the weekend lavishly hosted his supporters at a hotel in Owerri, the Imo State Capital where he assured them of his determination to reclaim his mandate.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Aloy Igwe urged his audience consisting mainly of PDP ward Chairmen, party executives from the component local government areas and other stakeholders to be very hopeful, focused and resolute, stressing that light would eventually triumph over darkness despite the machinations and concerted efforts of detractors who are bent on subverting the wish of the people to achieve their selfish and ulterior objectives.

Responding the ward, LGA executives, other stakeholders and leaders of PDP in the federal constituency, assured their host, Chief Igwe of their unflinching support and unalloyed loyalty.

It was gathered that many leaders and stakeholders of the PDP in Orlu, federal constituency attended the meeting which was aimed at sensitizing Chief Aloy Igwe’s numerous supporters on the need to continue the struggle for the restoration of his mandate and at the same time be resolute and also guard their loins properly for the electoral battle ahead.

Some of those present at the meeting include, the most of the Chairmen of the 3 local government area chapters of PDP that make up the Federal Constituency , several ward chairmen and other stakeholders, including the House of Assembly candidate for Oru East state constituency, Barr Greg Okemili, and that of Orsu state Constituency who was represented by a confidant.

A source who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity, said, “I am aware that 27 leaders of the party from Orlu LGA attended the meeting while 39 people from Orsu LGA also attended. Not fewer than 15 leaders of the party from Oru East LGA were also in attendance. This shows the enormous support Chief Aloy Igwe enjoys which culminated in his victory at the primaries yet, some delf-conceited leaders want to truncate it because of their selfish interests.”

Another PDP chieftain who also attended the meeting said, “it is a known fact that Kingsley Onyegbule’s emergence as the PDP candidate for Orlu, Orsu, Oru East federal constituency is fraudulent, illegal and unacceptable to all rational minded and right thinking persons who place premium on fairness, justice and equity. He should therefore desist from deceiving and misinforming the people.

Speaking earlier at the meeting, the PDP candidate for Oru East state constituency, come 2023, Barr Grey Okemili who represented the constituency in the Imo state house of assembly, between 2007 and 2011, said, though his own victory at the primaries had been confirmed, he did not heave a sigh of relief until Chief Aloy Igwe was announced as the winner and duly elected candidate for Orlu, Orsu and Oru East federal constituency seat. He expressed disappointment at the turn of events.

Responding to a question, some of those who attended the meeting said, “the member presently representing Orlu LGA in the Imo state house of assembly, Hon Pascal Okolie who secured a return ticket contrary to the age-long rotation agreement between the Orsu and Isu clans did not attend the meeting”.
