Insist Program Designed To Favour Uzodinma,His Associate

The candidates of the various political parties that will contest the Imo State governorship election scheduled for November, 11, 2023 have resolved to distance and dissociate themselves from the social contract deal advocated by Governor Hope Uzodinma’s confidant and ex-Commissioner, Fabian Ihekweme.

The candidates, as if, aware of Ihekweme’s alleged cordial relationship with Governor Hope Uzodinma, who is also seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC have resolved to ignore the Social Contract deal which they believe is a smoke screen designed to hoodwink them.

Some of them, who spoke to this Reporter, posited that Fabian Ihekweme, from all indications has gone back to the APC, having accomplished his repulsive agenda as a political mercenary in Labour Party.

“We will not under any circumstance be part of such a program that was designed by one of Governor Uzodinma’s core loyalists to give his principal undue advantage over other candidates who are better and more qualified.

“We have also been informed that part of the deal is to organize a summit after the social contract program where the participants will publicly endorse Uzodinma’s re-election bid”.

Recall, that shortly after Chief Martin Agbaso, emerged as the Coordinator of Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council in Imo State, Ihekweme, unilaterally declared himself a factional Coordinator using the “Big Tent” as a platform with which he organized parallel programs and activities.

“The climax of his questionable disposition was unveiled when Peter Obi was expected visit to Imo State and the Presidential Campaign Council formally wrote the State government for permission to use the Heroes’ Square. Rather than release the place to Martin Agbaso’s leadership of the campaign council that applied for it, approval was granted to Fabian Ihekweme’s group. This development gave credence to speculations that Ihekweme has close ties with Uzodinma”.

“Another issue that says it all is that, when Uzodinma went to court to seek the nullification of Ihedioha’s emergence as Governor, Ihekweme formed a pseudo government that was used to distract and derail Ihedioha’s focus and attention. These, attest to the fact that Ihekweme is not only Uzodinma’s ally and confidant but also does hatchet jobs for him in return for the pecks of office”.

A school of thought claims that, “Ihekweme does not have any issue with Uzodinma but is using the picture he is painting to make it real. It is a known fact that the former Commissioner will in no distant time publicly go back to Governor Uzodinma who has been his all for a very long time”.

Another source recalled how Ihekweme had during Emeka Ihedioha’s shortlived tenure formed what he tagged “shadow government” which mainly promoted Uzodinma’s ambition to unseat the ex-deputy Speaker through the court, with which they attacked Ihedioha’s government.
