…Insists On Equity In Imo Governorship

The apex sociocultural organization of Owerri zone, Olu Owerri has installed Chief Engr George Onyegbaduo of Obizi Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA as it’s Grand Patron. 

The ceremony which held at the country home of the American trained Electrical Engineer and member of the Board of Trustees of the organization was witnessed by notable leaders of the zone, among whom are Rt. Hon. Uche Onyeaghcha – former SGI, Imo State,  Hon. Oliver Enwerenem – former member Imo State House of Assembly, High Chief Dr Summers Nwokie (Ikukuoma Mbaise) and members of the National Executive Council of the organization.

Performing the installation alongside the representative of the Board of Trustees, the President General who led the National Executive to event noted that the seat of Grand Patron of the organization became vacant following the demise of the pioneer Grand Patron, Sir Charles Nwogu FCA, in 2022. He noted that Engr Onyegbaduo was recommended by the Body of Patrons following his outstanding qualities as a committed, straightforward and honest Owerri son who has shown character and good example.

Chief Opara used  opportunity of the occasion to call for equity in Imo State which a power shift to Owerri zone will guarantee, decrying the injustice the zone has faced in the last thirty years.

He congratulated the new grand patron on his installation and challenged him not to let the association down.

Earlier, High Chief Dr Summers Nwokie (Ikukuoma) who represented the Board of Trustees (B.O.T) handed the Grand Patron plaque to their host and congratulated him for being found worthy of the office. He assured him of his support and solidarity in the new task.

Hon. Oliver Enwerenem, a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly and foremost Owerri leader used the opportunity of the occasion to extol the steadfastness and consistency of Olu Owerri and urged the organization to remain focused and pursue their ideology without compromise.

In his acceptance speech, the Grand Patron Chief Engr George Onyegbaduo said he accepts the new role with great honour and sense of responsibility. He promised to contribute his quarter for the upliftment of the apex sociocultural organization.
