–         Affirms Achonu As LP Candidate

The Imo State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja, yesterday, dismissed the suit filed by Chief Joseph Ukaegbu, claiming to be the governorship candidate of Labour Party, in the November, 11, 2023, election.

The tribunal in its judgment held that Chief Joseph Ukaegbu, was never the candidate of Labour Party, adding that Chief Athan Achonu, was the valid candidate of Labour Party in the election, hence Chief Uchegbu, has no locus stand, whatsoever to file the suit in the first place.

This, according to Imo State Chairman of Labour Party Barr Callistus Ihejiagwa means that Chief Uchegbu, is a busybody interloper and hired political jobber, poised to derail Senator Athan Achonu’s effort to reclaim his stolen mandate from Hope Uzodinma and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Barr Ihejiagwa, further said, “having cleared this distraction, we look forward to a historic judgment tomorrow in the petition filed by Senator Athan Achonu and our great party”.
