Everight Diagnostic & Laboratory Services Ltd., Owerri, has achieved a historic milestone in medical laboratory practice with the accreditation of its Owerri medical laboratory to ISO 15189:2022, the internationally recognised standard for quality and competence in medical laboratories.

The accreditation, granted by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), marks a significant advancement in Everight Diagnostics’ commitment to quality management, diagnostic reliability, patient safety and professional excellence in healthcare delivery.

The certificate presentation ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the company’s headquarters located at 20 Bank Road, Owerri, Imo State.

The event attracted healthcare professionals, referring physicians, representatives of regulatory institutions, business leaders, partners, clients and other stakeholders in the healthcare sector, who gathered to celebrate the landmark achievement and its implications for medical laboratory services in Nigeria.

ISO 15189:2022 establishes internationally recognised requirements for quality and competence in medical laboratories. It provides a framework for laboratories to demonstrate that their operations, personnel, procedures and quality systems consistently produce dependable medical laboratory results.

For Everight Diagnostics, the accreditation reaffirms its commitment to maintaining robust systems that support the entire diagnostic process, from the receipt and handling of patient samples to laboratory analysis, result verification and reporting.

The scope of laboratory quality encompasses personnel competence, validation and verification of examination methods, equipment maintenance and calibration, quality assurance procedures, document control, risk management and continuous improvement. These components are essential to ensuring consistent performance and reliable results.

Commenting on the achievement, the management of Everight Diagnostics emphasised its dedication to providing laboratory services that support healthcare professionals in making informed clinical decisions.

The company noted that medical laboratory services are a critical component of patient care, where accuracy, consistency and timeliness are essential for effective diagnosis, treatment monitoring and disease management.

The attainment of ISO 15189:2022 accreditation reinforces Everight Diagnostics’ resolve to deliver diagnostic services within a structured quality management framework assessed against an internationally recognised standard.

For referring physicians, the accreditation provides assurance that the laboratory’s quality and competence systems have undergone formal assessment by the relevant accreditation authority. For patients, it reflects a commitment to processes designed to deliver reliable and clinically useful results.

While accreditation does not eliminate every possible source of laboratory error, it establishes a framework for managing risks, monitoring performance and driving continual improvement in laboratory operations.

Everight Diagnostics believes that strengthening confidence in medical laboratory services requires sustained investment in qualified personnel, appropriate technologies, robust quality systems and effective collaboration with healthcare providers.
