The Chief Executive Officer of Umuna Villa Hotel and Suites and CEO of the Akajiugo Charity Foundation, Hon. Prince Joseph Okwara, has joined Nigeria’s political leaders, technocrats, professionals and Nigerians at large in celebrating Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Prince Okwara, popularly known as Akajiugo, also congratulated his numerous fans and well-wishers on the occasion, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to building a better nation.
According to him, the first day of October offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect on the country’s journey, challenges and aspirations, as well as the collective responsibility to contribute to its progress.
He said, “I cannot tell what other men think of Nigeria at 66, but, for my single self, Prince Akajiugo, I think that a banyan tree should not fear the passing breeze. We must be courageous like a fortress that does not tremble when tents surround its walls.
“It is a proud moment, another age to put our nation in order and achieve our aspirations through leaders who demonstrate competence and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, because it is obvious that the failure or success of our great nation depends on our mindset.
“The late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in a foundation lecture, declared that ‘Man is the sole active causative agent in failure or success.’”
Prince Okwara urged Nigerians not to remain silent or pretend in the face of the challenges confronting the country, stressing the need for citizens to continue working hard and pursuing their dreams.
“As humans, we must refuse to be quiet and refuse to pretend. We will continue to work hard and never give up on our dreams. We will continue to pray for better days, peace, unity and prosperity in our families, our kindreds, our villages, our communities, our Local Government Areas, our state, our country and the world at large,” he said.
He further reminded Nigerians of the importance of integrity and good reputation, stating, “Let me remind us that the purest treasure mortal times afford is spotless reputation; that away, men are but gilded loam or painted clay.”
Prince Okwara wished Nigerians, particularly his Akajiugo fans, a happy Independence Anniversary, while calling for renewed patriotism, unity and collective commitment to the development and prosperity of Nigeria.
