A group known as Pro-life and anti-abortion law crusaders has frowned at what they described as subtle plan by Imo State House of Assembly to allegedly resurrect the  abortion bill which the group said they fought against during the 7th house of Assembly.
Speaking with our reporter, in Owerri, yesterday, the leader of the group and Immediate past Chairman of Association of Catholic Medical Practitioners of Nigeria,Academician Dr Philip C. Njemanze MD, said that they have noted with dismay that some lawmakers are bent on passing the obnoxious bill into law.”will not keep quiet to watch them pass any of such bills that are targetted at destroying our value system”, he stated.
He said that no matter what name they tag the bill,”our group already knows what the sponsors are up to.We advise the Imo State House of Assembly to drop the bill or have his group to contend with”.

When contacted, the alleged sponsor of the bill, Hon Uju Onwudiwe, member representing Njaba State Constituency  said that contrary to the lies and speculations peddled by some persons to discredit her good intention, the bill is designed to address violence against women, stating  that the area that has to do with abortion has long been expunged from the bill.

According to Onwudiwe, the committee will be having public hearing today at Rockview hotel, Owerri by 9am.She invited journalists  and interested persons to participate.”We have nothing to hide. The bill will address the injustice usually  melted out on women”, she hinted.
