The Imo State government through the Bureau for Traffic Management consequent upon an earlier ban on ENTRACO traffic taskforce has warned all illegal traffic taskforce teams as well as touts, operating illegally and unlawfully on the streets of Owerri municipality to desist henceforth from their nefarious conducts of harassing and extorting money from motorists within the city, as the long arms of security operatives and the law are now poised to deal decisively with anyone caught in the act.

A statement issued in Owerri recently,from the office of the Bureau of Traffic management headed by Mr. Okiro, which was signed by the SA media to the SSA to the Imo State Governor, Adiele Onuabuchi Prince, indicates that the government of Senator Hope Uzodinma is not ready to tolerate the unruly acts of the members of this illegal taskforce as those caught will be handed over the security agents, for prompt prosecution.

The release stipulated that the attention of Imo State Government has since been drawn to the nefarious activities of a particular illegal taskforce team and operations of the members within Owerrri capital city with a caution and warning to members of the public especially motorists to be wary of these mischievous elements of Owerri who go about extorting money from unsuspecting people with particular attention to motorists.

The statement reveals that no authentic staff of the traffic management agency would extort money from any person hence members of the public accosted anywhere in Owerri metropolis have been directed proceed to the office of the Bureau for traffic management is experienced and knows the nitty-gritty of traffic regulations.

Hon. Saviour Chima Okiro who is the head of the bureau has also reiterated his warning to the public to desist from patronizing these extortionists who he intends to arrest soon and prosecute.
