The sacked former General manager of Imo Broadcasting corporation, IBC Mr James Egbuchulem has petitioned the National Assocation of Female Journalists, Barr Vivian Ottih to New Owerri Police station for what he described criminal defamation.

Ottih had upon hearing the news of sack of the GM taken to her social media handle  to express her joy, stating that those who vowed to frustrate her job have been sacked.

Speaking with Ottih shortly after she left the Police station yesterday , she said even though she mentioned Egbuchulem in her post, their is nothing defamatory about her comment as she only expressed excitement over the news.”As a lawyer, I know when I have defamed anybody’s character but in this case, there is nothing of that.If he feels aggrieved, he should go to court, not using police to harrass me”.

Ottih commended the DPO and other officers of  new Owerri police station  for the civility they showed in handling the matter as against the wish of the complainant who only wanted her detained and arraigned through the back door.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the Mbaitoli born ex DG of IBC held sway when  all the ill-treatments were melted out on Ottih, which include; refusal to pay her salary since 2020 when she was suspended for asking for her salary and that of her members.

Just recently Egbuchulem, allegedly  at the instance of the Commssioner for Information, Hon Declan Emelumba had directed that the vocal female journalist,Ottih be posted to Lagos while approving a paltry sum of #55,000 for her transportation, housing,Children’s school fees and her upkeep and that of her children while in Lagos.

As if that was not enough, Ottih had also severally accused the duo of Emelumba and Egbuchulem of intensifying effort to send her out of circulation.
