·        Applicants to pay N1000 fee

Taking cognizance of the massive unemployment of youths who are  graduates and also faced with non-payment of salaries to uncountable number of the few working class and retirees, the Imo state government has begun an employment exercise aimed at filling in some of the numerous gaps in the state civil service.

A recent advertorial in the media posted by the Imo State Civil Service Commission has requested qualified applicants or rather interested candidates to obtain the requisite CSC form from the recruitment unit of the commission after payment of the sum of N1000 into the Imo State Treasury Single Account in any bank.

According to the release endorsed by Mrs E.A Ogudoro, Permanent secretary for the chairman civil service commission applicants for the jobs will be expected to write a competitive screening examination on Saturday April 23 at Government College Owerri by 9am prompt.

Some prospective applicants have been asking why the demand for the applicant fee and imagining how much that can be raked into the government coffers in view of the millions of unemployed young Imo graduates now seeking for jobs and the role of state political influence and quota in the proposed recruitment exercise. Some disgruntled persons described the exercise as a ploy to score political points.

The commission has also advertised for application to fill in some existing vacant positions mainly in the Accounts department of the commission.

The vacant positions include Accountant 1, Higher Executive Officer (Account And Executive Officer Accounts).
