.. Addresses Mbaike Lecturers Forum Owerri

Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, the APP candidate for Owerri Senatorial Zone in the 2027 elections has said that Imo is sick in all areas and hence needs urgent systematic rescue to avoid the state drifting to oblivion.

Delivering a keynote address titled ‘The Anatomy of a Sick State”, at Mbaike, during a high-profile training workshop of intellectual symposium under the leadership of Dr. Churchill U. N. and the coordinating convener, Chief Ihemadu Emmanuel, recently, Amadi said Imo State needs someone like him to bail it from being destroyed by those he described as shylocks and incompetents.

In a release signed by Comrade Bright Emeghara, TMO Public Relations and New Media and made available to the media on Monday, Amadi the aide assessed Amadi as a competent figure who has the burning passion to serve the people faithfully to effect positive changes in the society.

“When about 48.6% of a state’s population is trapped in multidimensional poverty, that state is fundamentally sick”, Amadi said.

He lamented the devastating impact of insecurity on the agricultural sector with rural farmers being displaced, vulnerable women and children subjected to heinous acts of violence and rape by Fulani herdsmen.

“We are looking at a state where children go to bed hungry and parents can no longer afford basic nutrition due to harsh, unfavorable economic policies”, he regretted.

Amadi, a policy maker, passionately highlighted the breakdown of primary healthcare, pointing out that pregnant mothers in rural communities cannot access basic medical care, nor can they safely navigate the dilapidated rural and local government roads to reach urban facilities in Owerri.

He frowned that “we are being deceived by a whitewash governance model. The same two or three roads within the Owerri metropolis are re-asphalted repeatedly over a seven-year period, while the local governments and rural communities, the true custodians of the state’s wealth are left to rot without infrastructural development.”

Amadi emphasized that the redemption of Owerri Zone and Imo State rests heavily on the integrity of the academic community, urging tertiary institution workers to use their social capital to ensure that the votes of the masses truly count in upcoming elections, stating that electing educated, competent, compassionate and visionary leadership is the only path to economic rejuvenation.

With a verifiable track record, robust academic credentials and practical developmental concepts, Amadi presented a clear vision to reform the economy of Owerri Zone, restore security and structurally transform the rural local governments of Imo State, when he goes to the Senate.

Drawing inspiration from the courageous stance of Prof. Nnenna Oti during the 2023 gubernatorial election, Amadi advised Mbaike Lecturers’ Forum pledged to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, resist manipulation and firmly defend the will of the people whenever they are called upon to serve as electoral umpires or supervisors in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
