–      Describe Him As Messiah of Our Time

Imo Women have drummed support for the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Tony Chidiebere Ejiogu ahead of the forthcoming Imo State governorship election, describing him as the only person who is capable of delivering Imo State from the clutches of insecurity, hardship, pain and retrogression. 

They stated this at the Annual Imo APGA Women August meeting held on September,16, 2023 with the theme “Reorientation Of The Women For Political Participation”.

The Woman Leader, Imo APGA, Mrs. Nkasi Tessy Obi, expressed gratitude for the massive turnout of the party women from the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State as she addressed the level of women Political Participation in our country today. 

According to her, women have the power of conviction that if utilized, can influence who ever occupies any position of power. She said that they have vital roles to play on the day of the election to attract thousands of votes for the party and its candidate, whom she attested to his unique passion to heal, deliver, rescue, reposition and redirect Imo to the wheels of progress. She encouraged women to join hands with the youths and men to deliver their candidate. 

Barr. Lizzy Nwokecha, a renowned politician, reputable legal practitioner and National Woman leader of APGA who represented the National Chairman of the Party, in her remark at the event emphasized on the party’s chances of winning the Imo governorship election with a candidate like Sir Ejiogu. She inferred that APGA

has always been proactive in electing the right candidates to bear their flag, as she described Sir Ejiogu as a man with all the necessary credentials and prerequisites of a good leader.

She maintained that in no distant time, APGA will dominate Imo State, the way it has dominated Anambra State going by the dedication and viability of its members.  She commended the Imo women wing of APGA for doing a great job so far.

Barr. Nwokecha introduced “Project Drive APGA”, a project she said was birthed by the National Chairman of the party, which is geared towards repositioning the party for greater good. She emphasized that every member of the party must key into it to be able to reap its great dividends. 

The National Woman Leader for Non Indigenes of The Movement for Good Governance and Conscience (MGGC) who was also present at the event while addressing newsmen at the occasion, stated that the event was designed to challenge women to take their place in Political Participation, adding that after the event, she expects women to start grassroot door to door campaign, spreading the gospel of APGA which is centered on being our brothers’ keepers”.

She expressed confidence that Sir Tony Ejiogu will become the next governor of Imo State because according to her, he is the most credible, competent, capable and committed candidate who possesses all it takes to restore Imo from it’s deteriorating and retrogressive condition. 

High Chief Ejike Uche (Dimkpasaa) the deputy governorship candidate of APGA, who ably represented the governorship candidate of the party at the event, while addressing the mammoth crowd, expressed confidence in APGA women, stressing that women are undisputably powerful, strong, brave, vibrant and productive even in the political arena.

He reminded the women that there is nothing the security apparatus fears or respects like women, hence they should be bold enough to work in their different polling booths to ensure victory for the party. 

He assured them that Sir Tony Ejiogu is capable and determined to protect and defend the people’s votes at all cost, saying that Ejiogu will become the governor of Imo State because he is the masses’ choice. 

Chief Ejike emphasized that he has been a king maker but now wants to become the king, hence his decision to deputize a very credible and qualified candidate. He recalled how successful he has been in delivering his candidates, citing the case of Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state. 

Chief John Iwuala, Chairman of APGA in Imo State who was obviously satisfied with the success of the program reeled out songs of thanksgiving to God while extolling APGA women for organizing such a program. He urged the women to intensify their hard work to ensure that the party wins the forthcoming Imo governorship election. He revealed that Imo APGA was careful enough to elect a man of character, honesty and integrity who is poised to restore the dignity and glory of Imo State.
